Steaks cooked perfectly, sides on the mark, and everything delivered to our table at one time. Comments of caution about the food is that an ABUNDANCE of butter is used in all preparations! And, sides are (IMO) to be shared. Easily can be for 2-4 people, with everyone having a good amount. The one odd thing to us is that on arriving for an early dinner at 5:30, with the majority of tables not yet filled, we were asked to wait for at least 5 minutes. This happens every time we've gone, and has been the experience of our friends, as well. There is no obvious reason for delaying seating. It's not that fresh water is being poured, or any other pre-seating service being done. Maybe it's a strategy to cause customers to say that they will wait in the bar, to encourage that additional purchase. Ruths Chris does truly need to change this practice!
Food was excellent and our waitress was wonderful. My 3 stars overall was because the dress code was disappointing to say the least. I watched a beautiful family come in to dine to which the father was wearing a brim classy hat. They were turned down to come in and dine. Meanwhile I saw men in shorts, tennis shoes and t-shirts allowed to dine. They need reevaluate what they chose to do with there dress code.
We eat here regularly, this was the first time that I've ever had a bad steak. It was bound to happen sooner or later, they jumped through hoops to try to replace it but I really didn't want to wait for another to be cooked while the rest of my party was eating. I ate half of it, they cooked the flavor right out of it lol. It won't hamper my opinion of the place, the service and ambiance are always spot on and I'm sure the food will be fine next time
We were pleasantly surprised to see that the staff took the precious time to decorate our table with a birthday card and table scatter as we waited in the lobby. My husband does not allow me to treat him often so I was THRILLED and I must say that he admitted to being very impressed himself. The wait staff even accommodated our 'choosy eating nine-year-old son. This was such an over-accommodating gesture! The entire meal-service was pleasant. We were able to relax and enjoy our dinner and desserts. As a military family not quite familiar with all that Jacksonville has to offer, this was well-serving for him to celebrate in this way. THANK YOU!
My husband, son and I had dinner at Ruth's Chris to celebrate our son's birthday. We brought 2 bottles of wine one of which was 30 years old (Joseph Phelps Insignia). The cork on the Insignia disintegrated as Ben and Jess worked to open the bottle. After many minutes of working with a strainer to move the wine into a decanter, success and the wine was excellent. The shrimp appetizer, chopped salad, and filets were excellent although cooked a little more than the medium rare we ordered. The sides of mashed potatoes and mushrooms were delicious as well. Service by Ben was outstanding throughout. We highly recommend Ruth's Chris to celebrate a special occasion or just because....
