Attempted to book for a family reservation to be rudely told, the restaurant is closed today, tomorrow and then the phone was put down on me. No offer of when the opening times were for this week…. Extremely rude and so why would I ever want to try to book again….
Always special. I have been coming here since I was 8. That’s 30 years ago. Tonight was the first time I took my kids. They were in awe of the experience and for once this resulted in some pretty good behaviour! This truly is a sheffield legend. One that will never be equalled, replaced or indeed bettered. Go and sit. Be entertained. Indulge and most of all, be fulfilled.
The food is excellent. The wine too and neither are expensive. The staff are attentive and the owner very friendly. The venue is unusual in that it is located in a large Edwardian house in one of the posher parts of Sheffield. There is ample parking, it is on a bus route and there is a nice pub across the road for pre-dinner drinks. As per a previous review I have had an occasion when I could get through to book but we turned up anyway and got a table. If you live in Sheffield or are visiting I strongly recommend you try it. It is a different dining experience and is a step up from the usual Chinese restaurant
I can see on here very mixed reviews, however I went on Saturday with a party of 6, and it was excellent. food was delicious and they even made me my own dish. They have an excellent wine menu also. The owner is in one word a character it is totally like fawlty towers! will return! yes the decor is old fashioned, but I think it adds to the character of the place, with the big open fire!
