Joe Dolores The Grill - Sheffield

We have been to The Grill many times over the past few years and the meals have been excellent. However our first visit his year after lockdown was disappointing to say the least. Whilst the food was OK the portion sizes were really small, nowhere what they had been in the past. I had the ' Beef Wellington ' which came with potatoes but there were only 5 small slices of sauted potatoes and the additional veg was barely enough for one. The menu choice had been reduced but increased in price. The service was fine but we had to ask for cutlery twice. All in all we came away hungry and disappointed. We will keep an eye on the menu and prices but unless some things change we will not be returning. I appreciate that the situation with COVID has had an effect on the hospitality industry but putting prices up and reducing portion sizes is not the way to go about reclaiming busiiness.

There were no ' January Blues ' on Sunday after a delicious lunch from The Grill 's, 'Eat in Menu ' delivered to my home . Thank you also for the lovely roses which were a complete surprise made my birthday special. As always, the food was delicious and it was such a treat to have a roast cooked for us and all I had to do was lay the table and eat it.

Sampled the recently reintroduced takeaway service today. You have to phone ahead and order in advance from a limited menu, but there is a decent selection of starters, mains and desserts. Starters and desserts are £5 each, mains £10, but the food is excellent. Having ordered our meals this morning, we collected them at the appointed time this afternoon. They will deliver in the local area but there is a small charge. We originally wanted the Sunday Roast, but they had run out of that. We instead had the lamb hotpot which was delicious, large portions of that and accompanying vegetables and gravy. It was piping hot and lovely. We had apple pie and cream for dessert, the pie served cold but again very nice indeed. We have been to the restaurant for dinner a few times and have always enjoyed it, this was no different apart from eating at home. An excellent venue serving top quality food run by lovely people. Thank you for offering the takeaway service.

We have dined at this restaurant under both The Dore Grill and Joe Delores names, and this time we were invited by friends for a special birthday celebration. Despite my initial reservations about the 70s ambiance of the restaurant, we were impressed by the quality of the food and the professionalism of the staff. We were pleasantly surprised to enjoy a meal cooked to order and served with impeccable silver service, with hot plates and equally hot food. After experiencing many meals elsewhere with cold plates and lukewarm food, this was a revelation. Kudos to the team for giving us a memorable dining experience, and we look forward to returning to enjoy more of your delicious cuisine.

I don’t understand the negativity on some of these reviews, our meal was great, yes this place has a traditional feel to it but the food and service were exemplary. They even flambé your steaks in the restaurant. They had an issue with the hygiene certificate but they assured me that was a glitch and when they get a revisit it will go back to 5 stars. I loved it
