The moment we arrived we were rushed to the table despite the fact that we were not late. The food did not look or taste fresh, garlic was not cooked through , eating raw garlic is unpleasant. Everything fish or crustaceans related was covered in an unflavoured yellow mayonnaise. Dessert was the usual for Sheffield pancake with vanilla ice cream but this time limited fruit on the plate, no flamed alcohol just dollops of cheap bottled chocolate sauce or cheap bottled syrup. There was no attempt at a show and our cook didn’t have the courtesy to finish his own service. Shame on you ! All of this for £178.00, surely there must be better out there.
The food was absolutely lovely. The lady helped us pick as I'm not familiar with Japanese food. One big criticism, because we ate off the menu instead of teppanyaki we couldn't get a dessert. I heard a waiter ordering ice cream for the teppanyaki guys but my lady couldn't let my 12 year old have it. After questioning it again we were offered a pancake. No thankyou.
We booked the teppanyaki for my son’s birthday as it’s something he’s always wanted to try. The chef was great fun and the food was all fresh and tasty. The scallops were tiny but tasty. It was £40 per person which is really expensive for what you actually get the portions are tiny and we were still hungry when we got home. Drinks were also expensive we had 7 bottled beers, 2 colas and a hot sake. Our bill for five of us came to £290. I don’t regret going as it was a fun experience, we all enjoyed it and the food was fresh and tasty but I couldn’t justify returning at that price for essentially a few tapas size portions of food. For £40 you get Small bowl miso soup One scallop Two tiger prawns A table spoon size portion of teriyaki chicken A piece of steak the size of a mars bar Few fried cabbage leaves A small cup of egg fried rice One pancake with single scoop of ice cream Coffee or tea
On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady who told us where our friends were sitting. Decor was lovely. Having never had Japanese food before we were stuck on what to order. Our friends had some sushi, the bento box and some seafood Udon. Me and My partner had around 4 tapas dishes (gyoza, panka, yakitori and spring rolls) and a bowl of chicken rice which was huge! All in all the food was delicious. Our tapas was brought put at random times but it was ok. We never got our plates cleared so service was minimal. Gents toilets were disgusting and Smelly. Ladies toilets no so bad but very small and damp. Service 2* Food 4.5*
We booked as a group with 2 gluten free (1 coeliac) they cooked the gf food first and the rest of the groups afterwards. Turns out the soy sauce used on the gf food wasn't gf meaning one of our guests were unwell that evening. Other than that, an enjoyable experience for others.
