The only reason this place is highly rated is because people in Shenandoah don't know what good service is. The order was completely disgusting. Sour tasting steak, mashed potatoes that could cause sodium shock and flavorless onion rings. If you know anything about good quality food, don't waste your time and money. They insisted they couldn't do anything about this because we had take out. Mhmm. Sure.
The owner is the soul of this place! The food is incredible, I am very picky when it comes to restaurants, but Elm street grill has a very cool atmosphere, perfect service, and quality meals at affordable prices. I will come back, especially for Kyiv Mule.
I ordered the Strip, and I was served a rotten piece of meat. It smelled awful. I don't know how the cook didn't notice it was rotten when they put it on the grill. Service was slow. Only good thing was the margarita and salad.
In town for the weekend, and went with friends to eat here Friday night. One of the specials was prime rib, and it came in a huge portion, exactly as ordered, and delicious. Honestly was better than the last few times I have ordered in Kansas City. Additionally, the au gratin potatoes and creamy corn were great, too. I took home part of the potatoes and nearly half the prime rib, it was that large of a portion. Companions had salmon (looked delicious), and a pasta dish, of which he also took home about half. They said service was sometimes iffy, and it may have been a tad slow, but was friendly and not out of the norm for these days. They are doing what some larger city establishments have trouble getting right, namely well-done food worth what you pay.
