Well I have to say we had two times the special menu as there was four of us. The food was superb. We will certainly be going back and our family members that came with us that live locally will be going back too.
A very spacious pub. The Landlord was very friendly and obliging. My Wife has a gluten allergy and the Chef prepared fish and chips in gram flour, which my Wife enjoyed very much. The menu is Indian street food based, apart from fish and chips, or scampi and it was very good. Cask ale was also in good condition. A very friendly and welcoming pub, I would definitely visit again.
Very pleased this pub has re-opened after a take over. The new landlord Ruheel was very affable and welcoming. The usual wide range of beers, wine and spirits were served in a very cheerful manner and we sat outside with a nice view over the harbour. The lunch menu looked extensive and the plans to open the first floor as an Indian restaurant soon will only add to it's attraction, particularly for evening meals when the parking along the front is free.
We sat outside, my partner had a beer and I had a Diet Coke, I wasn’t expecting it to be served in a can with a straw. Part of the enjoyment of having a drink in a pub is having a drink served properly. I can understand not having glass outside but I just felt it was incredibly lazy. We won’t be returning.
We were walking to see the Folkestone Mermaid whilst visiting the area. We saw this establishment and went to the door a large notice Children not welcome hand written, seemed unusual but we had our dog nothing to say no dogs and walked in. No one behind bar I asked some drinkers if dogs are welcome and some chap from the other side of bar said no dogs welcome he worked there. We don’t live in the area and not sure why no kids or dogs, it may be a local issue but we got no explanation just a stern dogs are not welcome.
