Teppan Yaki Yamanami Keio Plaza Tokyo

Very average food at exorbitant prices. I ordered a course that was to include both Kobe and Hide beef. I was only given the Kobe. By the time I could speak to a waiter the chef had already cleaned the grill and we were given dessert. He said they would cook it for me, but I said it was too late at this point. I didn’t want to eat a piece of meat by itself after dessert. After dinner I was told to pay outside the restaurant in the hallway. I couldn’t believe they charged me for the course with no reduction for the missing Hide. That course was 1400 yen extra. They spoke almost no English which made it impossible to argue. Bill was 75100 yen for two people.

We enjoyed our lunch here. Everyone was smiley when they talk to you and even the chef speaks fluent English. The foods were great. All the ingredients were super fresh... the abalone was moving when it was taken in. The only flaw would be that the abalone was flavorless after it's cooked. I won't order this again but I may come back to this restaurant.

Yamanami is a superb teppanyaki restaurant. The food foie gras, scallops, Kobe beef and grilled vegetables were super fresh and absolutely delicious possibly the best sautéed foie gras I've ever had excellent sake too. Loved the theatre of the restaurant and our chef was wonderful charming, attentive and highly skilled. Staff were lovely and friendly and spoke good English. Not cheap but thought we got value for money. Highly recommended.

My wife and I chose the Kobe beef and seafood teppanyaki. The appetizers were excellent, and the chef preparing the Kobe beef and seafood was very friendly and a pleasure to watch. It was a quiet night, with only one other couple at the counter. My two suggestions would be to have some quiet jazz music, and to make suggestions regarding the choice of sake or wine. Nevertheless, it was a very good value for perfectly prepared Kobe beef.

Fantastic food, including Kobe Beef cooked to perfection in the set menu of ¥18,000 per person, which my wife and I both had. Excellent service as well, but as expected this isn’t a cheap eat, costing around £250 for 2 people, and we didn’t have any wine between us. Great restaurant for a special occasion.
