Lyon Hall - Shirlington

Very attentive wait service with refilling water, learning plates, etc. However, our waiter hardly came to check on us much to see how everything was or if we needed anything else. Amazing food! Love the ambience, but it is a loud environment when super busy.

Lyon Hall has always been one of my favorites restaurants but last night I had one of the worst sandwiches I have ever had...the French Dip. The meat was so grizzly and fatty I literally gagged and had to spit it out. I told my server I could not eat it and was not charged. I would suggest that either a leaner cut of beef be used or that this sandwich be taken off the menu. It was terrible

Not our first visit to this establishment. Went for anniversary dinner (shared in reservation). No acknowledgement by any staff member. Initially seated at table right by hostess stand. Asked one hostess for another table, was told no other table was available (while the restaurant was half full). Second hostess was able to move our party to a more comfortable table. Caesar salad was tasty. Octopus appetizer was terrible. So tough, we couldn't cut it with steak knife. Staff replaced with another one, but same issue again. Entrees were good but not great. Decided on pass on dessert after unsatisfactory dinner. Do not plan to return.

We love Lyon Hall and have eaten there many times since it opened. We had a good experience last night too, except that we were seated next to a party of 14 upstairs. We could barely hear ourselves speak, the big party overwhelmed the other diners nearby. They were very noisy. That said, food was excellent, as was the service.

I come to Lyon Hall a lot but my last visit definitely could have been better. After being seated, it took our waiter about 10 minutes to come over. We were pretty much ready to order by that point but before we could say anything, he said he would put in water for us while we looked at the menu. About 10 minutes after that, he came back to take our drink orders. Finally, about 15 minutes after that, we got our drinks except he only brought the beer bottle for my fiancé and didn't bother removing the cap. He walked off entire we could ask him to remove it so we had to wait for him again just for that. The food and everything else was mostly fine but the waiter's lack of attention definitely put a bit of a damper on the meal.
