I went with a staff member who explained this to me, and it was a bit mind-boggling as I initially thought it was pronounced CHA TEN or CHA JYU. Shizuoka is known for its green tea, making this a great place to experience local culture. The green tea lattes (make sure to request soy milk if desired) are delicious, and the treats they offer are also enjoyable. Personally, I wish they would only offer plant-based milk for the lattes to align with their cruelty-free philosophy. The café may be small, but snagging a window seat allows you to people-watch while enjoying your treats.
Cha10 is a top choice for green tea and Matcha lovers, especially in Shizuoka. The drinks are delicious and the desserts are incredible. It's hard to pick a favorite drink, but I highly recommend the nitro and houjicha latte. They also offer soy milk for lattes for vegans. All desserts are vegan as well. The café is run by a lovely woman who prepares and serves all the beverages and treats. It can get busy on weekends, so consider going before 2:00 to avoid long waits. The menu is in Japanese, but it has pictures to help you decide. The staff can assist you in English if needed.
Cha10 is a top favorite green tea/Matcha café, not just in Shizuoka but anywhere. The drinks are delicious and the desserts are amazing. It's hard to pick a favorite but I highly recommend the nitro and houjicha latte. They also offer soy milk for lattes for those who are vegan. All of the desserts are vegan as well. The cafe is run by a lovely owner who makes and serves all of the drinks and desserts. It can get busy on weekends, so if you don't want to wait for a seat or your order, it's best to go around 2 o'clock. The menu is in Japanese but has pictures to help you choose. The staff can help you order in English with no problem. This review was updated on March 8, 2020.
