さぬき ān - Shodoshima

I ordered the meat udon and was pleasantly surprised by how soft and tender the noodles were, similar to Osaka udon. Although I usually prefer firmer noodles, I found the dish to be quite delicious. The broth was also delicious, with just the right amount of seasoning and a light and fluffy flavor. The meat udon was reasonably priced, but my companion's tempura udon was a great deal for such a generous portion. The value for money at this place is truly impressive.

The set meals are cheap, delicious, and plentiful. Highly recommended.

Located across from the Bank of Hyuga in Uchiumi, this traditional restaurant serves udon and rice bowl dishes. You can also enjoy popular dishes like the Hishio Don and somen noodles from Shodoshima. I ordered the popular Katsu Don with less rice around noon. They serve it freshly fried, so it takes 5-10 minutes to prepare. It was piping hot, and I almost burnt my mouth, but the crispy katsu with the fluffy egg was delicious. The broth that came with it had a wonderful aroma, making me think the udon here would be tasty too. The portion with less rice was just right for me. The service from the owners was friendly and heartwarming. Payment is made at the counter at the back of the restaurant, and they only accept cash. The parking lot is small as it is shared with other stores, so it's recommended to park tightly.

Affordably priced and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised with an extra serving of shrimp tempura udon. The second time I visited, I couldn't resist ordering the shrimp tempura udon again, which was just as tasty as before. The noodles were perfectly chewy and smooth. The portion size might be a bit small for men, but just right for women. If you're still hungry, you can add a rice bowl as a set. My companion tried the katsudon, a specialty of the restaurant, and it looked so appetizing that I had to order one for myself. During my visit, I witnessed a touching act of kindness when an elderly man with weakened legs came in and the owner offered to deliver groceries to him anytime, even giving him her phone number. She even gave him some inari sushi as a gift. This display of compassion in the city made me feel warm and fuzzy, showcasing the kindness of the local island residents.
