As Chris Jay said in his blog post, it has the feel of a diner with a friendly staff and regulars having lunch. <br/ <br/ I opted for a pre-made turkey sandwich on this trip due to time constraints. The sandwich was good, much like a homemade one with a good amount of turkey, lettuce, cheese and mayo. The bread wasn’t my favorite but you have options if you have them make yours fresh like Ezekiel Bread. Also, they have health conscious options like Vegenaise and vegan cheese. Beside sandwiches and soup they offer a few vegetarian entrees as well as an organic salad bar and sweet treats. <br/ <br/ One issue for me is the strange odor of the place. It isn’t totally offensive to me but enough to make me notice it and prefer it not be there. <br/ <br/ I agree with user Leena Hughes, Sunshine is a local gem. Now that Whole Foods is days away from opening, I too hope they can survive and flourish.
Sad to see that there hasn't been a good review on this page since 2011. Sunshine Health Foods in Shreveport has always been a gem in this small city. Local and organic produce available with a wide selection of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan foods. I've never has a problem with the staff and they have always been more than accommodating when I've visited! The soup of the day is delicious and comes in large portions. Hope to see this local grocery and deli flourish even after Whole Foods opens!
My Favorite Lunch. This is my first choice for lunch during the week.Different soups everyday and great sandwiches.I have never been disappointed.
What?. We love sunshine health food . I can say from going there alot, foodguy did not understand that the turkey wrap is premade with onions, also you could have unwrapped it and took the onions out. They will put the avo. spread on any sandwich not premade! The prices are very reasonable for what you get. Fresh homemade soups that are great and sandwiches that are some of the best in town. The cookies are huge and too die for...if you can get one before they all sell out..........................
This is a great locally owned market and cafe. The staff is very knowledgeable about the products they carry. The prices are great and they offer a discount to seniors (60 and over) and military everyday. The cafe has many healthy options and offer dine in, pick up and a drive thru for convenience.
