We stopped at Shrewsbury and decided to take a break and have lunch at 'Dobbies Garden Centre'. My husband ordered an Americano coffee with a baked jacket potato topped with coronation chicken and salad, while I opted for a caramel latte and a bacon, brie, and cranberry toasted sandwich with salad. It was a pleasant break from our drive, and we enjoyed our meal before resuming our journey after forty minutes.
We stopped by for a late lunch. The fish had a very hard batter and was dry, making it impossible to eat. We received a refund. The other food options appeared burnt, dry, and unappetizing.
The morning coffee is good and the baked potatoes are a safe bet for lunch. I made the mistake of ordering Cumberland Sausages and Mash, which was disappointing as the mash was dry and the peas were hard. The salads, baked potatoes, and cakes looked good. The custard slice was not up to par. Service was inconsistent, with one server being grumpy and another being friendly. The restaurant was full of Dobbie's card holders and seniors claiming their free cake. Overall, I may not return for lunch but it could have been my choice of dish.
Beware! Terrible exit from these services to roundabout. Cars everywhere in car park trying to get out. Took us well over an hour to get out!
Friday 11th August 2023, My husband and I made a stop at Shrewsbury and went to ‘Dobbies Garden Centre’ for a rest stop and for refreshments on our way to North Wales. My husband had an Americano coffee with custard cream biscuits and I had a caramel latte with shortbread biscuits. It was nice to take a break from driving, we spent forty minutes here before continuing our journey. The service was quick and the tables were clean and they have had new chairs since the last time we visited
