Gano House Sibu

I was thrilled to come across this fantastic restaurant by chance, thanks to the interesting Chinese characters on the sign out front! The lower sign showed raw meat, while directly above it was a sign for vegetarian food - a funny mix-up that led me to the realization that the vegetarian cafe was located on the second floor. The atmosphere at the cafe was laid-back, with decorations that reflected their mission of promoting vegan eating and natural health. Although I found the menu a bit confusing at first, the owner kindly explained that they offered a la carte dishes as well as set meals with healthy drinks. The highlight for me was finally being able to enjoy meals without white rice, opting instead for organic, low-fat versions of local favorites like nasi lemak and mee hoon soup. The menu also included a variety of grain bowls and delicious iceless kakak toast. The restaurant felt like a family-run business, with the owners truly passionate about their mission. They were happy to give me a tour of their kitchen, explaining their cooking methods and ingredients. Not only were my taste buds satisfied, but I also left each meal feeling light and refreshed, knowing that I had enjoyed a healthy, wholesome meal.
