Billy Goat Tavern (at The Mart) - side

The "cheezeborger" is well-known, but I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast options at this restaurant. For just $8.99, you can get two eggs, two slices of toast, your choice of meat (I highly recommend the salami, which was delicious and similar to good bologna), and hash browns - all prepared quickly. It's like enjoying a classic diner breakfast, but in the Merchandise Mart.

We visited Billy Goat Tavern on a quiet holiday weekday for lunch, looking for a family-friendly spot. We were happy to find it open and not too crowded. The food was better than expected, with reasonable prices and decent service (some staff were friendly, while others were not as much). We enjoyed being able to choose our sandwich toppings, and everything was flavorful. It may not have been the healthiest meal, but that's to be expected.
