Fresh, varied, and always delight. Be sure to try the regular croissants, almond croissants, pain au chocolat, beer bread, cheese bread, danishes (blueberry is my fave , beignets (raspberry, hazelnut! , the madelines, the macarons… the sandwiches, the quiches… I could list the whole menu. Nice, but croissants and other pastries are too dark (over baked or oven temperature too high). It's really a pity because the pastry itself is good, but the dark brown top layers spoil the taste. Croissants should be golden brown.
I will never come to Chicago without stopping in. Amazing!
A chic — traditional — French bakery, La Fournette, is located right off of North Avenue in the neighborhood of Old Town, Chicago. The storefront’s N. I'm visiting from Seattle which has it's fair share of French bakeries. I have to say, La Fournette is the closest to the real thing that I've had stateside. The foodstuffs and the coffee are AMAZING.
