We stayed in the building with AC, so meals were included. There are no TVs, little wifi and cell service. You are warned in advance. The room was large and clean —very conference center-y. Dining was scheduled in shifts to avoid crowds—but a daily 730 was rough for a vacation. The meals were a bit awkward—staff would take your order—but there werent really choices. More like ‘dinner roll, salad, chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetable’ and you would just name it back. It was dining hall food. Nothing fancy. Always a vegetarian option. Often something for kids but not always. Desserts were amazing. ‘Regulars’ seemed to know to ask for off-menu items—yogurt and fruit. Lots tondo on the grounds—kayaks and paddleboards, beach, tennis, shuffleboard. Lectures in the evening (or movie night on weekends). But, everything else closed at 5. Post dinner beach walk? Closed. Sunset shuffleboard? Sorry. We requested equipment but were denied. We were constantly wondering if we were missing something. All in all, we bad a good time and connected as a family.

I was there for a five day workshop. My husband came along and he got to play all day. We stayed in the inn and the accommodations were good. More like a hostel than a hotel, twin beds in a small room but we did have an attached bathroom. Ate in a communal dining room . The food was mediocre to poor. They always had a salad bar and vegetarian option which worked for me but my husband really did not like the food. Our workshop space was not air conditioned and it was very hot. My husband enjoyed the waterfront activities, sailing, kayaking and canoeing and archery. In the evening there were concerts by classical and folk musicians. It is like summer camp for families. Lots to do in a beautiful setting. Wifi and cell phone service were poor.

This tranquil, rustic, secluded, extraordinary hideaway is not for those seeking pampering and luxury. But for those who appreciate nature, crystal-clear waters, mountains to explore with hiking trails, soul-soothing music, a laid-back atmosphere, stargazing opportunities, exciting activities, and a variety of water sports, this is the perfect destination. I absolutely adored it.

My friend and I stayed at Birch Cottage. The beautiful surroundings offered a sea view. The staff was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed activities such as swimming, kayaking, taking boat trips on the Silver Spirit, hiking, exploring the grounds, and meeting other guests.

Silver Bay is a stunning and one-of-a-kind destination. When my friends talk about visiting a beautiful lake, I can't help but think they're missing out if they haven't been to Silver Bay. The range of activities and events offered here is unparalleled, and the warm and inviting sense of community is truly special. Four generations of my family have all found themselves falling in love with this place.
