Abysmal food and service. We sat down with our kids for lunch. $10 paninis are nothing more than a toasted slice of wonder bread with a defrosted topping. The icing on the cake was when the juvenile and non English speaking server Valentin began arguing with our 9 year old daughter. She's a vegetarian and doesn't eat meat. Our server screwed up our order and brought her a panini with meat. When we advised him that he brought us the wrong meal, he began arguing. We sent her dish back for the vegetarian panini she had ordered, but the server still included the wrong dish he brought on our final bill in addition to the vegetarian one. When I advised him that we won't be paying for his mistake, he told us he needs to clear this with his manager in order to have it removed from the bill. When I later asked to speak with the manager, he was no longer on duty. There are plenty of good food options in Silverton, but this ranks at the bottom of the list. Avoid at all costs.
Food was decent, service left much to be desired. We came in on the train, and came here at the recommendation of a train steward. Ten of us stopped for lunch. Four out of the ten didn 't plan on going to any restaurants in town, so they packed a sandwich. Those four also bought churros and desert pizza to help out and not take up space without buying anything. They were busy, but not packed. We were seated pretty quickly, and orders taken soon after. Food was pretty quick. As the four were eating their sandwiches, a waiter came up and rudely told us no outside food was allowed. No outside food is understandable, but no need to be snooty about it. About 90 seconds after we were told no outside food, someone came and asked if we needed to-go boxes. The pizza had only been delivered a minute or two before, so that was really odd. I don 't think if ever felt like being a customer was such a burden to a business. About a minute after being asked if we wanted to-go boxes, we were asked a second time if we wanted to-go boxes. Then, when I asked to a refill on my coke, he took my cup, came back a few minutes later with no cup and said they were out of coke, and it would be 5-10 minutes. He didn 't ask if I wanted anything else, so I stopped the next waiter who walked by and said a Dr. Pepper would be fine in the absence of coke. A few minutes later the 1st guy brought my coke. When I got my bill, I noticed I was charged for the coke AND the Dr. Pepper. Kind of a douche move. 6 or more, or split checks get automatic 20% gratuity added on, and also a 10% combined something fee. Not sure what that is, because it wasn 't 10% orlf the table, or 10% of our total. CC also charges 4% extra. I 'm cool with mandatory minimums of gratuity IF they give service accordingly. But not basically asked to leave, then double charging for drinks. We were asked twoce of we needed boxes (to get us out? , but never asked if we needed any refuls, or anything to make our stay better. Some of the worst service I 've received anywhere.
I love the western, mining town ambiance. Everyone treats you great and tries to accommodate you. We showed up with a large party during a busy time and they seated us in less time than expected. Their wood fired pizza is delicious.
The 'za smelled so good I forgot to get a Pic before we started devouring it. I love trying oddity pizzas when traveling and the Japanese Laundry fit the bill. Imagine eggroll meets pizza. I 'll definitely be back!
