My husband and I had the breakfast plates and my son had the pancakes, which he said I 'm pretty sure these are the BEST pancakes I 've ever had! . There were a couple of funny older gentleman having their coffee and gave us some entertainment and tips for our trip. They all treated us like family and not out-of-towners. Definitely recommend stopping here if you 're passing through!
The special was 4 pieces of catfish, cole slaw, potato salad, beans, hush puppies, tea and dessert. All for $10.99. we were too full to eat dessert. The catfish was real meaty, about 1/2 inch thick. The breading was just right. Staff is real friendly and the service was great. It's been a long time since I've had good catfish like this. Go try it.
Hooties was previously Something Different. It was recently purchased and renovated and it just opened yesterday. Hooties was named after the school janitor who died of Covid this year. Hootie was loved by the community. Today, I got chicken fried chicken. It was delicious. I got a large piece of chicken breast that was cooked to perfection and covered with a crispy crust and covered with cream gravy. I was planning to take a picture but when they put it in front of me, it looked so good that I ate it before I remembered to photograph it. Dan got enchiladas, which he said were ok. One person got a burger and the other got street tacos and said their meals were good. This is a terrific new restaurant. If you 're passing through town, look got the sign. It 's worth stopping for.
Great little place, we enjoyed the chicken enchiladas.
Great Food, everything made there no refried beans in a can. Wide selection menu including pizza, burgers, tex-mex, breakfast, and more. A bit in the middle of nowhere but if you're near lake McKenzie give it a visit!
