Lai Huat Seafood

One of the best fish head steamboat places in Singapore. The soup is really good. Been here twice and both times were great. To drivers: parking at the basement is much easier and there are usually more available lots; carpark rates are same or similar both outdoors and in the basement.

You absolutely have to order the Sambal Fish; it's incredible! The Fried Baby Squid is also fantastic! This will definitely be added to my list of regular favorites.

The food was delicious and flavorful, and the staff were polite and friendly. You definitely have to try their crispy Sambal Fish, fried prawn rolls, and fish maw soup.

Tucked away in the corner of the East Village shopping mall is a cozy little restaurant called Lai Huat Seafood. This was my first time dining here, despite visiting East Village quite frequently. We ordered three dishes, and I must say, the food was delicious. The standout dish was definitely the deep-fried eggplant topped with pork floss. This dish is quite challenging to prepare, and I have to commend the chef for its excellence; the eggplant managed to remain less greasy than typical deep-fried dishes. The other dishes were also great. While the prices are a bit higher than most zhichar stalls around, I genuinely think it's worth it. I noticed they have several other signature dishes, like the crispy pomfret with sambal and the tow kay beehoon.

Pros: 1. The fish steamboat was outstanding—it maintained its rich flavor even after I refilled it, unlike many other places that tend to water it down. 2. The prawn paste fried chicken deserves a double thumbs up! 3. The service was quick, and all the staff were very polite. Cons: 1. Just a minor detail, but the rice could use some improvement. 2. The scallop with spinach was somewhat bland; I would recommend using a different soup stock for better flavor.
