I also liked the masala filling the potato is mashed and there are some shreds of vegetables inside to give it a crunch. The curry and the chutney that comes with it are also good.
Experience the delightful freshly made appam at @heavensappam, available in original, egg, or cheese varieties. Pair it with red jaggery sugar and freshly grated coconut for a perfect treat. Visit us at 20 Ghim Moh Rd, Ghim Moh Hawker Centre, #01-26, Singapore 270020.
Thosai, Putu Mayam, and Appam are less common Indian dishes compared to the Prata typically served at Indian Muslim restaurants. Today was my first experience trying Thosai from this particular store. The place was clean, and the staff maintained good hygiene practices. I'm a regular at Ghim Moh Market, but there's often a long line at this store. Luckily, today I timed it well with only three customers ahead of me. I ordered the Masala Thosai, which was light, and the sauces were flavorful without being spicy. I highly recommend it!
Appam (SGD $3) – Simply Divine. Previously known as Heaven's Indian Curry, this stall specializes in just two items: thosai and appam. Madame Muthuletchmi Veerapan and her son Suren skillfully prepare these dishes. Their plain appam features crispy, thin edges and a pillow-soft center, offering a delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors, with a slight tang from the fermented rice batter. It is served alongside grainy orange sugar and fluffy freshly grated coconut, adding a lovely earthy sweetness. Their 'Princess' version takes it to another level of decadence, topped with melted butter, gooey cheddar cheese, and a fried egg to complete the crown. As the stall's name suggests, the appam is truly divine.
The appam at this restaurant is absolutely fantastic! Both the butter version and the royale (with egg and cheese) are phenomenal! Yes, it's definitely indulgent with all that buttery goodness and crispy edges, but it's a treat that's worth every bite! The putu mayam is incredibly fresh too! It's impressive that they only offer these two dishes, but you definitely have to try them all.
