Love the curry puffs here. Thin and chewy pastry with strong curry flavored fillings, mostly potato, with a bite of chicken and slice of egg. I like the bite of it as it’s not flaky and less oily than other curry puffs around. The size is a bit small so I usually eat 2 at one go. The person manning the stall is polite and chatty. I usually buy enough to eat over 2 days and it still tastes good one day later. Of course it’s best to eat them hot as they usually make multiple fresh batches over the morning.
Was in the vicinity and had to buy these puffs home for myself and the family. Crust was buttery and thin, the potato fillings (with some chunks of chicken and slice of egg) had a spicy kick. Would’ve been nice if the size of the puff could’ve been a little larger but I guess sometimes less is more. The owner recommended the glutinous rice, which i’d love to try someday!
While one can get curry puff almost anywhere in Singapore, to get one that's close to ideal is not easy. More specifically, most failed at the covering pantry which tends to be thick, starchy, oily. In addition to this issue some curry flavor is on the light side. Rolina curry puff is close to my version of ideal and I simply wish if it can be more accessible to fellow food lovers, highly recommended
I love curry puffs, and Rolina definitely has one of the better tasting ones in Singapore. I especially like the very thin crispy crust unlike the thick crust that you usually get elsewhere. And I like the unique spice of the fillings. Can use a little bit more chicken though. Sardine puff is just as good but really small.
