Older couple owners mom pop, but very old school traditional, table well laid crisp white linen etc., but we were casual and they were accommodating. The host spoke a bit of English, and we had our phrase book. It worked... The food was very tasty I had veal in a maderia sauce, very tasty well seasoned, we also had Sea bass and stroganoff. I would say the only down side is that the food took a while to arrive. Fortunately, we had wine, and fresh home made bread (love the bread in portugal) the family were so nice you couldnt get irritable about it. We enjoyed it.
Both tasty and a nice evening. Close intimidacy with the owners. A bit of English communication challenge, but this made it just more fun. Bottom line: Terrific. Don't miss it.
Coming down from Pena castle we asked our tuktuk driver for a not too turistic place to eat. We arrived at 3, the restaurant was empty but we where nicely received from the owner who only speaks portuguese . As appetizer we got very nice croquetas de bacalhao. The food (ensalada fernando, bisteca fernando and bacalhao) was very ok and the apple pie delicious. Reasonable place!
Like others here we waited for 1.5 hours and the food was not served. We decided to leave after a couple got up having waited for almost as long as we had. Overheard the waiter grunting to the couple something along the lines of If you want to leave you know where the door is . Got charged 15 euros for a couple of cod pastries and drinks. They gave priority to a larger group which arrived 30min after us. I strongly advise to avoid this place at all costs as the staff will string you along with the food will be here in 5 minutes .
Food is amazing, the bolhos de bacalhau and cheese were fantastic starters and the meat is simply delicious. The owners are super friendly and go above and beyond to make a pleasant lunch
