Contribuisci feedbackThe only, and I mean the only reason I’m giving it a 4 star is the price is bit steep. OTHERWISE I’m in love with this place. I often wait in giving Reviews. I go a few times and few weeks apart to see if there are any changes. And I’m not gonna lie. There was none. The same employees, different times and different days. Each time, Amazing. This is a standard Asian food restaurant. Every stereotype filled. But the hotpot is amazing. I’m a picky eater myself but I really like this place. The family who runs it is really nice. Always on top of getting your drinks, and checking your broth. The have all kinds of things to eat mushrooms, tofu fatty lamb, even octopus. It’s a clean place and the broth is amazing. They have a 2 hour limit on the buffet and a 15% tip is added to your bill. They also have a $12 fee for food waste, but to be honest as long as you eat what you get, it’s not an issue. The cost is worth it. It really is. It’s a great place of date night, and it’s a great place to have a family dinner.Vegetarian options: They have plenty of things like tofu and cabbage and it’s all kept separate from the meat and such.Kid-friendliness: They have plenty of room for children and booster seatsParking: It’s in a shopping center so there is a lot of spaces.
No, just no. There were no cars 1st red flag. They don’t tell you the pricing 2nd red flag. The meat fridge had a smell (hard to describe) the craw fish smelled like ammonia. They automatically give them selves a 15% tip for doing almost nothing, all they did was bring us our drinks and pot of broth. Shrimp were slimy. Over all not a good experience. The total price came out to almost $80 for 2 people. They also added an extra few dollars and didn’t say why. We got lunch but got charged for dinner.
Not the best price wise but it’s way better then half these reviews give credit, my fiancé and I came in for the weekend HotPot. The reason we only give the service 3 stars is because they didn’t explain anything about it and we had never had hotpot before so it was a bit of a learning experience. The drinks were always refilled promptly and same with the broth when it would get low.The meat selection wasn’t huge but they had lamb, beef, fish, squid, octopus, a nice variety. The veggies is where the selection was lacking and I didn’t like the taste of the cabbage leaves but the mushrooms were fantastic with the spicy broth. The spicy also isn’t too hot but I recommend half and half if you don’t like spice, it is nothing like the “dirty mop water” I’ve seen in the reviews here. All in all I recommend this place as a must try, be advised it is pricey, we paid $75 for 2 adults so not a regular place to go but once in a while we will return.
I don 't think the hotpot itself was terrible but it was very expensive for what it actually is. Limited options in the buffet. The freezer was pretty sad looking with the little variety of items. The bill was a shocker, $70 for 2, with a mysterious fee noted as delivery but it was actually the mandatory 15% tip. Plus credit card usage fee. Server immediately reprimanded us and told us it was the tip- well why not bill it as a tip instead of delivery fee.. Hmm, I wonder why. Let me guess, so most people won 't notice and add an additional tip. Shady business practices.
I wish I could write this restaurant three different 5 star reviews, as they have three completely different dining experiences, all of which are amazing. When we started coming to Lao Szechuan years ago, they only had the hot pot buffet available, with promises of a full menu to be implemented soon. The hot pot buffet alone should earn this establishment 5 stars. They have a large variety of selection, and cooking your food with your table is a very intimate dining experience that you don 't get often. Their full menu is stuffed with authentic Szechuanese dishes I cannot purchase anywhere else in town. Some of my favorite include Chongqing spicy chicken, house spicy beef slice, or pork belly with garlic. They also have your staple Chinese food, and a portion of General Tso 's has come to us as 1.5 pounds! Now if all that isn 't enough to convince you, they also have a sushi menu. Craving a spicy tuna roll in the middle of your delicious meal? In less than 10 minutes it 's sitting on your table, made inches away by their sushi chef.If you want to try something new, or enjoy food and dining experiences, Lao Szechuan is the place for you.
