Our room was on the top floor and it was quiet even with the atrium. The main issue with the hotel was when we checked it the front desk said I've upgraded you to the concierge level. He neglected to indicate that he was charging us for such. The lounge was closed anyways on the weekend. He did give us breakfast coupons which we didn't use anyways. It was ridiculous. If he had asked us we would have said no.
Before you stay at this otherwise fine hotel, be aware of some things that could make your stay somewhat unpleasant. Any negative comments that I say about this hotel will not affect them in the least, since they are connected through very nice passageways to the beautiful convention center, the arena, the sports complex, etc. It makes it very convenient to stay here if you’re involved in any events at any of those places. They will always have clientele, therefore. The hotel is situated near the airport, which makes a shuttle very convenient. The hotel itself is very nice, and so are the rooms. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms clean (except see below), and the bathroom bright and cheerful. They offer a breakfast, but at a cost. They also have a restaurant. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. So were the staff at the restaurant. All in all, a nice place to stay, except for a few things! So, my comments now will serve to hopefully make you aware of some negative aspects. 1 First of all, this hotel is built like an Embassy Suites. In other words, all the floors of the main hotel form a square with a courtyard in the middle of it. That means that you can exit your room, cross the aisle, and immediately look down at the courtyard below you. All of the rooms in the main hotel are exposed to this courtyard. Other hotels built in this style usually have the good sense to make the courtyard just a seating area with gardens and some fountains. Not this hotel! They put their bar there! That means that you can expect loud laughing, yelling and screaming until late at night and it was that way all three nights we were there! My wife called down to the front desk at 11:30pm one night to ask how long the noise was going to last. (AND, the sound echoes and reverberates and seems to increase by volume due to the nature of the construction). They told her that since there were about 150 people still there (due to a concert that ended around 10:00pm), they were going to keep the bar open until midnight! What was obvious to us is that this hotel cares more for the bar clientele than the rest of us who are there for a convention and trying to get some sleep! It’s fine to have a bar if you need one, but put it somewhere in a place where other guests won’t be disturbed! If you stay here, ask to be placed in what appears to be an annex. I think it’s called the “executive wing”. You’ll be somewhat insulated from laughing, screaming and yelling. 2 They serve à la carte breakfasts here as well as the buffet. However, the buffet costs $18 with tax which would be OK if you could also order eggs made to order. You can’t. The scrambled eggs on the buffet are the ones that come from powder or out of a bottle. You can only get real eggs if you order them from the menu. I think that any buffet that charges $18 should have real eggs available for the guests. When I asked about this, they told me that real eggs made to order used to be available until about three years ago, when Covid started. I reminded them that Covid is over now, and they should return to that former practice for that price. 3 Lastly, even though our room was very nice, the carpet looked like a disaster area. All over it needed to be steam cleaned. Perhaps replaced. The pictures will show you what I mean… Anyway, other than that, a very nice place to stay especially if you are involved in any one of the activities associated with the area.
Very convenient location if you have an event at the arena. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Bar hours are not good for travelers. if you stay here make sure to walk across the street to Boss' Sports Pizza over in the Ramada, the service hours are so much better, especially of you want to watch a game and get food.
Stayed at the Sheraton for 2 nights. The rooms where clean and the beds very good. They have a large lounge area with water falls. The receptionist was very nice and we talked with her every time we went by. When we went downtown, she offered us to take the shuttle bus both ways. I place I would stay again, if I come to Sioux falls again
I assumed it was a Marriott property and would be nice. The first clue that I was wrong was the dirty front doors. The clerk struggled to find a room and sent us to one that overlooks the front roof with spotlights right outside the windows. We were told no other rooms with a king size bed were available. There were stains on the carpeting. We turned the air down to 65, but it never cooled down. On our way out of the hotel, we told the clerk who said that’s try in many of the rooms. I was very disappointed in our stay. Try a different property.
