Beignet Au Lait - Slidell

Beignets were fried too long. They had a crunch to them.

Cute hole in the wall place. I always look for gems like these when traveling. Beignet Au Lait is fantastic! The food was amazing and the people were awesome!

The service was wonderful, and it's a perfect casual breakfast spot. Most everything was delicious (beignets!! frozen coffee croissant sandwich), but I wouldn't get the grilled cheese soup again. The sourdough bread was good, but it was diminished with cheese product singles and what seemed to be canned soup with dried basil sprinkled on top. I don't waste food I've ordered, so we finished it all, but we will just stick with the breakfast items next time.

Beignets are overcooked. Cafe Ole uses milk instead of hot cream. Service and atmosphere is good. Prices are reasonable if the above was not true. For what they serve the prices are a little bit steep.

Go for the beignets. Place and atmosphere is basic. The beignets are delicious.
