Neighbours for long but recently the service went down. Order two pints and they went flat after 2 minutes. They changed one of them and the other I didn’t want to go to change it. Waiting for our lunch nearly two hours and my wife’s salad wasn’t the right one and for the second time they brought us another wrong salad. We refused to accept that and we ask for a full refund. Not good Kings Head
After two mediocre visits to the Earl of Cornwell, we thought of trying the King's head instead and rather than booking a table we just took pot luck there's a few takeaways and restaurants around that area so we weren't stuck for places to eat. However, we managed to get a table, despite it being quite busy (being a friday). Unlike the Earl, this is a smaller closed in dining area, which made it somewhat loud to sit in: the sound echoed quite a bit and didn't make for a relaxing evening out. We also discovered some of the beers we wanted weren't listed on the Greene King app, so had to intermix between ordering from the table (and the number wasn't clear seems it's the wooden spoon in the condiment tray) and heading to the bar. Even then, one of the orders placed via the app came through incorrect, but was quickly rectified. The meals came fairly quickly. My lasagne okay, feeling a bit soggy, but the chicken ham pie was rich and full, with a good mash but let down with a watery gravy. However, my dining guest reported that her fish and chips were great, with the chips being crispy and perfect as she liked them. Meals were more enjoyable than the Earl, and the place seemed much busier I'd certainly return for another meal, but would book a table and perhaps eat out towards the bar where it's more open.
Went into the kings head tonight, went up to the bar to ask for a table, the bar girl had no clue if there was a table and told us to just try and find one… once she had taken our order she then asked if we had booked or just walked in… we got in at 7pm, ordered within 10 minutes and waited over 2 hours on a Thursday night for 2 dinners (pie, mash, tender stem broccoli and gravy. and a portion of garlic bread, after 1.5 hours my sister went to the bar to ask if they could put our dinner and the garlic bread in a take out box because it was taking too long. Half an hour later I went to the bar to question where the food was, I was told it would take another 10 minutes for our food, as I saw the chef run into the kitchen with a bag of frozen mash. A few minutes later our food came in take out boxes as asked, however the garlic bread never came and when we mentioned this the waitress told us it was never ordered and insinuated we were lying (even though they had charged for it and said she didn’t expect it would be so busy on a Thursday night (there was 4 food tables including ours. when looking at our food we had frozen mash, peas instead of broccoli and no gravy. Do not recommend at all. Would give 0 stars if it was an option.
Lovely family get together for a private party. Sadly the room is small so only a small party can attend. Some of our guest had to sit in the main pub. Food not so great fir fussy eaters.
