The American normals and a few Mexican 's to add to the list. Bummer, even out of Lone Star. Had a steak, simple meal, the steak and 2 sides. The steak was cooked to perfection, which is rare any more. The Mac Cheese was really good, creamy with the addition of bacon. Service was good, we were in the Cantina area and were well taken care of. Had entertainment and even a few couples dancing.
We just ate dinner here. We walked in to an empty room with an empty counter and after a few seconds looked through a doorway that turned out to lead to the restaurant. A nice young lady sat us our choice of a booth or a table. We choose a booth. There was a table with two gentlemen eating and a table with a solo diner. Otherwise, at 5:20 on a Tuesday, that was it. We ordered drinks and fried pickles. Drinks came quickly, but the pickles took approximately 20 mins to make it out to us. About ten mins later our dinner arrived. I had the 6 oz sirloin with a baked potato and a side salad. My husband had the rack of ribs with a baked potato and side salad. My salad and potato were good; my steak wasn't anything special.mMy husband said that the ribs were good. The fried pickles were good tasted like most other fried pickles. Besides the food: It was a weird experience. On one wall there is a HUGE screen and behind a counter there is a tv. Both were showing a Luminess makeup infomercial 80% of the time we were there. After that came a Humana infomercial. In addition they had country music playing. Just very weird. And it smelled like a bowling alley. Our waitress was a sweet girl. She apologized for how long it too to get our appetizer out and was just very sweet in general. All in all: food was okay (not worth $47, in my opinion), environment was strange, service was bueno.
I'm not sure how they have good reviews on google. The reviews on here seem to be accurate. No one around to seat us when we came in. Appetizers were good. We had armadillo toes and the loaded fries. Took some time to come out but was well worth it. The main course is where it all fell apart. Chicken was dry, steaks way under cooked. Sent the steaks back and came back blackened. (Was ordered medium) We waited almost 45 minutes for the food after we ordered and there was only a handful of people in the building at the time. Overall the dirty plates and trash sat on the table the whole time, refills were not existent until the last 15 minutes. Service was lacking, atmosphere was blah and the whole thing was a waste of time . Bottom line, spend your money elsewhere and save the heartache.
You'll need to workout and do a cleanse after. The food is greasy. Gravy was yummy. Daughter loved the BLT. Service is okay.
One of the best things about road trips, is trying the local fare of whatever region you happen to be in. While driving from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Los Angeles, we stopped for lunch while driving through Alvord, TX. ... and when in Texas, you HAVE to eat BBQ. Bono's Chop House was a cool little spot decorated in the style of an old saloon. My friend and I were the only two people in the place NOT wearing cowboy boots. ... yup... we were definitely in Texas. The BBQ was decent. I ordered their BBQ combo (brisket and ribs), with fried okra, and a cold beer. Decent food, decent price. I'll probably never go back, but I'm glad I got to try it.
