This place was so good I wished I would have gone every day I was in town. We had a group of 8 and had made reservations. All the food we ordered was great but maybe pass on the charcuterie. I had ordered the filet and when it came out everything on the plate was over cooked. Luckily the waitress checked on us shortly after and a new steak was fired. Definitely one of the top 3 steaks I?ve ever had! Medium rare is the way to eat a steak like that. I would highly recommend the oysters, tuna tar tar, filet, trout, and the venison chili. Thanks for having us!
Over the years, I've enjoyed some decent meals and snacks at Tuque's. The location is convenient, and the atmosphere is relaxed. However, on my last visit, the food was quite disappointing. The beet salad with mandarin oranges appeared to be straight out of a can, simply served on a bed of lettuce. The trout sandwich was an overcooked piece of fish in a crust, placed on a dry roll. I also recommend avoiding the fried green tomatoes. If you're in the mood for meatloaf, you'd be better off heading to Route 66 for a burger. It was particularly disappointing since we had guests with us and had praised this restaurant. The place wasn't busy that evening, and while there were locals at the bar, they weren't dining. It felt like the kitchen staff might have been absent.
I visited this restaurant for the first time after receiving some recommendations, and it was definitely worth the trip to the mountain. For starters, we ordered mozzarella, which, as you can see in the photo, was not your typical cheese sticks. They had the perfect texture, flavor, and presentation. The staff was fantastic; they offered great suggestions, and we all decided to go with the filet mignon. It was cooked to perfection, very tender, and juicy. Surprisingly, the potatoes ended up being the standout dish, and I highly encourage you to try them. I recommend this place whether you choose to sit upstairs or downstairs; the atmosphere is delightful. I will definitely be returning. Thank you!
Quite good, pricey, good beers (mostly not draft). Venison chili and meatloaf were good choices, but the beet salad and scallops were better.
