Afghan Food - sohar

Great food. Typical of most restaurants in the Middle East, this one has a family section as well as one for bachelors . In addition to normal seating, they also have private rooms for families if needed. The slight snag with that setup is the lack of a bell to call the waiter. This basically means for you to have to get up to beckon him, which can be problematic if you come in during the evening or weekend rush. Food is very delicious as you definitely get an authentic feel for the local Afghan/Shinwari/KPK taste. Their mutton karhai was delicious, but don 't touch that actual dish when they bring it in. It was burning hot in my case, and even the slightest touch to the metal bowl had me writhing in agony. Their Kabul Rice was also good, albiet a little oily. I wish I had tried their grilled options, but had been having grilled the prior days means at that point I was not in the mood. Their breads were not the typical afghan bread that you are used to seeing, but more like the Pakistani variant that you get from the local Tandoor. Ambiance is decent, but lighting is pretty poor in the private rooms. Overall would recommend it. Getting there is generally easy, even though its not a direct route. On the Batiniyah Highway you would need to take the exit right after passing Safeer Mall, and the restaurant is located close to it on the parallel service/slip road.

You get hot roti more non veg items. But veg items are very less. Veg items are Mix Veg Dal Only.. They give you complementary Butter Milk Soup..
