A small little restaurant in the vibrant Nirvana Courtyard, Rock-e-Adda is a paradise for bong foodies to gorge on some simple but scrumptious “baarir khaabar”. The décor is clean and unpretentious where you can spot the finer nuances of the Bengali culture, read books, guitar, benches, a rustic bell and little birdcages. I loved the minimalism upon seating. The menu is clear-cut but tight as the weather is dire and they swear by fresh food. So, when we entered the restaurant, it was empty and thankfully so as that day it was literally run by a one man army. Sonu Pandey was at the reception desk and was swift enough to come and take our order apologizing for the unavailability of some and suggesting some better dishes. Upon placing our order, we got busy in our own conversations and antics when, after some time, we realized that the service is terribly slow. Came our food, some hot and fluffy Luchis with Keema Ghugni, Kosha Mangsho and Bhaat with Aaloo Bhaaja…being a Bong, I give them full marks for the authenticity in taste. The plates and bowls were polished off in no time. So, like I said the One-Man Army – Sonu Pandey – took great care of us since the beginning – he took our orders, cooked for us, served us everything down to the finger bowls and ultimately fetched our bill. Woah! Awesome work! I take back my “slow service” complaint and replace it with great hospitality despite irregularities. If the management is reading this review, I request them to appreciate Sonu and his services significantly. <br/ <br/ Rock-e-Adda truly rocks!
. Biryani was spicy with good taste. The service was good. I look forward to going back..,I loved the idea what they are trying to do..Overall good place..
I always go back for the Kosha mangsho they serve....yummylicious!!! I have tried lot of other dishes off their menu but somehow this dish just nails it for me...Bengali to core!
My husband loves this place. The best Kosha Mangsho second to the homemade version of course) he says! With Luchi and Bengun Bhaja!!!<br/ <br/ What the place offers is homely Bengali cuisine at affordable prices. My Bangali palate is of course difficult to please. Growing up on Mom's expert cooking, won't go the length of calling the fare quintessential Bangali points for effort though.<br/ <br/ The preparation is light and options are decent many. The fish preparation was mouth watering good fish that day!<br/ <br/ What I must call out is service not your over the top service; attentive and thoughtful. On my second visit I was amazed by the sheer efficiency of the staff severely short on help, we were welcomed, seated, our order taken, food prepared and served by one chap only! Nothing out of place, too notch quality and simply marvelous food! Thank you Sonu Pandey!<br/ <br/ Overall, decent food and generous enough portions on a few dishes!
