We found a nice table in a corner that was able to accommodate us and all of our shopping bags. After looking at the menu on the table, we made our selections. I went to the bar to order our drinks and food. We both ordered egg mayonnaise sandwiches on brown bread, along with a pot of tea and a latte for myself. The drinks arrived quickly and the food was nicely presented with rocket salad, coleslaw, and piping hot chips that were delicious. This restaurant provided a nice, relaxing atmosphere for a late lunch. I would recommend stopping by after a day of shopping.
My husband and I had our first lunch at The George through a Groupon deal, £24 for a 3-course Sunday lunch for two. The restaurant was busy with a good atmosphere and we were seated right away. We were expecting a carvery, but the area was being refurbished so our lunch was plated instead. We both ordered prawn cocktail, which was served in a dish with too much mayonnaise that covered the few prawns. I ordered beef, requested medium-rare but it was served well-done. Despite sending it back, it came back the same. My husband had no issues with his gammon and the vegetables were ok. The dessert was acceptable. Overall, we were disappointed as we had heard good reviews and are unsure if we will return in the future, given the many other options for Sunday lunch in Solihull. Perhaps the restaurant's reputation precedes its reality.
We had a fantastic three-course Sunday lunch at the restaurant. While the decor was a bit outdated and worn, the dining area was clean and well-maintained. The food was delicious and the staff provided exceptional service, being attentive, polite, and friendly throughout our visit. We definitely plan on returning and would recommend this place to others. Some updated decor and a cleaner carpet could potentially attract more customers.
So went along for the groupon 3 course offer....amazing value for money, fresh and hot tasty food, great service, couldn’t fault! Will be back!
First may I say we visited here today with a pre booked Groupon voucher. We thought the cost was very reasonable £24 for a three course lunch with a glass of wine, well it would of been had the main meal been edible!! The beef looked good but it was as tough as old boots and impossible to cut and the veg wasn’t cooked apart from the couple of slices of courgette the cauliflower, broccoli and carrots were very, very al dente.Plus we ate our main course with our starter plates still on the table and were cleared away with the main course plates.Such a disappointment however my starter was ok apart from the stale toasted bread the mushrooms were on my husbands smoked salmon wasn’t as described and was barely a couple of mouthfuls, onto the desserts they were the only good thing we we had.It was cold in the restaurant I sat with a big coat on for most of the meal and in all honesty we couldn’t wait to get out!!So as the title of my review says NEVER AGAIn
