And to boot the waitress can't even remember who ordere what with 2 people lmao Worst place if you want customer service or fair prices . A entire 2 liter if soda is 2 bucks people.
I am reviewing the restaurant only! Waitress was friendly. Food served pretty fast. Egg Foo Yong was very good and filling. Chicken chow mein was cooked perfectly. Looks podunky from the outside but clean on the inside
I have driven past this place for years and finally stopped in. Great food, I wished I would have visited them years ago
The hotel is not an operation but the food is great and it comes in large portions. Great pricing. Good waitresses. And located right on the main road.
Chen’s has been around for a long time. There are two locations: Long Beach and South Bend. This review is for the South Bend restaurant. You can definitely count on a filling meal when you eat here. The portions are good. We started off with the crab puffs. They were ok. Not great, but ok. I feel like they should be called cream cheese puffs instead. The crab was nonexistent. Tasty, but not quite up to excellent crab puff status. My husband got his usual combo plate consisting of sweet and sour pork, fried shrimp, fried rice and chicken chow mein. He liked it. But he’s pretty easy to please! Everything was hot and fresh tasting so that was good. I opted for the beef and broccoli. It was good, too. The carrots and broccoli weren’t smooshy, the beef was tender and the gravy tasty. All pretty decent. You’re not going to get fancy schmancy Chinese cuisine here, but you will get a decent Americanize Chinese meal. The restaurant itself is pretty dated. Could use a nice renovation, but it’s clean. The waitress was the one excellent element during our meal. Five stars for her. She was the only one waiting tables on a very busy Friday night and she was hustling. On top of that she didn’t forget one thing requested, and service delivered with a friendly smile and kind words. Definitely worthy of a hefty tip. Overall, Chen’s was a decent place to eat, if you’re not expecting a fine dining experience. Just good, old American Chinese food.
