The service was great, the food was delicious, and they had a good variety of cask and keg beers as well as a decent wine list. Despite it being a Sunday, there were plenty of options on the menu to choose from. Unlike some other pubs in the area that have become gastro pubs and fallen short, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. I highly recommend it.
This restaurant is a perfect spot to cozy up on a rainy Saturday night! The fireplace kept us all warm. The service and food were excellent, and they even took great care of our dogs. My daughter, who has celiac disease, was well taken care of by the menu; the staff and kitchen went above and beyond to prevent any cross contamination.
We had a fantastic Saturday lunch at this restaurant. We arrived with friends on a whim and were warmly welcomed. Despite the busy nature of the restaurant, there was a slight delay in service which was completely understandable. Our drinks were served promptly and the wait for our lunch orders was not an issue as the food was delicious. Our friends enjoyed the superb burgers, while my wife and I ordered the haddock and chips which came with pea and mint puree and homemade tartar sauce. It was perhaps the best fish and chips I have had since dining at Rick Stein's in Padstow 15 years ago. The staff were amazing and deserve high praise. Well done to all involved!
What a great lunch we had here today! There with my husband, his sister and brother plus their spouses. 1 disabled in the party so great care was taken to seat us in a place that wouldn't interfere with other diners accessibility, but we were still in the main part of the restaurant. Lee, plus his colleague (who's name we didn't get) were really attentive, very polite and had lovely humour, which was fun and added to our enjoyment. The food was delicious Hake curry, curried cauliflower, pork chops and pie if the day were all tasty, particularly the steak pie which was full to the brim with tender steak and melt in the mouth pastry. Sticky toffee pudding rounded off the meal very nicely. Visiting here from York.
If you are lucky enough to be passing on the second Saturday in the month you can join in on the breakfast club. Book online and my word it was lovely, the finest products, cooked beautifully .. service also impeccable. A real treat.
