Eating was excellent, we all really enjoyed our meals and thought it was a good value for money. my children are vegetarian and there was a lot of choice for them. we ordered gloomy, but they had to cancel when we waited one for them and had to go as my wife had to go to work. the service of the staff was excellent, they were friendly and helpful.
On a Wednesday night, the restaurant was fairly quiet. I opted for the Hunters Chicken and requested the BBQ sauce on the side. The chicken was tender and delicious, and the chips were hot. Overall, it was a enjoyable meal.
Great friendly pub, made very welcome by Ollie. Had lasagna, good price. Quick service, food was nice and hot. Recommend the strawberry Eton mess sundae. Will be back.
Our first and last visit. One of our party has a nut allergy. We reviewed the menu prior to our visit as we knew there would be limited choice for her. The barman was very helpful and referred to the kitchen for advice. The chosen meal of scampi could not be provided as the fryer used for allergies could not be used for scampi, thus anyone with an allergy cannot have scampi. An alternative meal was chosen. The steak, sea bass, and scampi chosen by another of the party were acceptable. All the vegtables served were mediocre, tastless and unappetising to look at. The table was sticky so I used some hand gel and tissue to clean it, the dirt that came off was gross. Unfortunately we chose a table near a fire door, which was constantly used by customers to enter and exit the garden and left to bang shut each time. As we finished our main course and about to order dessert a large party of around 200 people arrived. It appears that the pub had not properly prepared for them in respect of seating or staff. The queue at the bar was enormous so there was no chance of ordering dessert soon. A member of staff began moving people from the area we were sat in to the other end of the premises to allow the large party to be seated together. As requested, we waited to be moved After fifteen minutes waiting we decided to move ourselves as the noise was deafening and the fire door left open constantly on a very windy day. There was plenty of room where the large party had come from but the member of staff was more interested in arranging seating for them than re-seating us. We decided to forgo dessert and pay our bill, which took another ten minutes queuing at the bar. When asked by the barman if everything was O.K. I gave him an abbreviated version of the above.
