The hotel is beautiful with lovely grounds. Upon check-in, I inquired about dining at the Atrium Bar but was informed that it cannot be reserved. I was advised that I could dine in the restaurant if needed. Unfortunately, the Atrium Bar was full and the restaurant was fully booked, so I wished I had known to book earlier. Eventually, we were able to secure a table in the corner of the Atrium Bar with the help of a friendly waiter. Booking breakfast tables also proved to be a challenge as there was a long queue. It would be helpful to have booking times in place. The older man (short) in the restaurant was helpful on both days, and the young staff were also very accommodating. We enjoyed lunch outside, ordered from a Hut, although the waiter seemed overwhelmed as he had to keep going inside to retrieve items on his own. Despite the dining difficulties, the hotel itself is beautiful with lovely grounds and rooms.
We visited this restaurant for a dining experience, but unfortunately, our visit was not a pleasant one. The cleanliness of the hotel was quite disappointing. Our table in the atrium bar was sticky and dirty, not cleaned from the previous guests. We had to sit next to tables with dirty plates and glassware throughout our meal. The rest of the atrium area was also in need of a deep clean. The service we received was extremely poor, with not enough staff to cover the entire restaurant. As for the food, it was mediocre at best and overpriced. My club sandwich, which cost £16, was nothing special. The overall ambience of the hotel was lacking, and I left feeling extremely disappointed. Although the hotel and grounds are beautiful, the lack of cleanliness and poor service really let it down. This is not what you would expect given the high prices they charge. I hope that management reads this and makes improvements. It is worth noting that they only seem to respond to positive reviews based on previous feedback.
Decided to have lunch here on recommendation from daughter. It was not busy despite being a Bank Holiday. Service was excellent and efficient both men observant and very polite. Lovely atmosphere in a pleasant setting. Food was well presented and very tasty. Drinks are reasonably priced for a venue such as this. Highly recommend the Atrium for an informal meal.
In this day and age of the web, why not state when a restaurant is closed? It could save a wasted long journey! The Atrium was closed (15 6) consequently outdoor seating only. Wooden chairs tables, no cushions? Had to order at the bar and pay before receiving our food! Service was average at best. Previous visit was good which is why I chose this place to meet eat; sadly disappointed on this occasion consequently unlikely to revisit!
