We don’t live near Holbeach but would definitely recommend this place. Excellent food and atmosphere. Staff friendly and can’t do enough for you. We had four different meals and they were all really tasty and excellent value for money. I can’t think of anything bad to say.

The H&G is one of our local pubs so we visit it often and the friendliness and food is always good, however they have a new chef the meal we had last night was at another level. There were 4 of us in our party, no space Ila occasion just friends getting together and we ate in the small but very comfortable restaurant. 2 had steaks which they said were cooked exactly as they had requested, the accompaniments were very good, the chips outstanding, and the pepper and mushroom sauces really tasty. The steak and Stilton salad exceeded all expectations, not just a Stilton sauce but a perfectly cooked steak with large chunks of good Stilton on a tasty salad. I had the sea bass with new potatoes and veg as I was looking for a light meal and it didn’t disappoint. Really crispy skin on fillet, on a bed of lovely potatoes in a light sauce, with wilted spinach and vine tomatoes. 2 of us had deserts, a beautifully presented homemade caramel cheesecake and a delicious Baileys cream brûlée with a home made shortbread. Both were not too large and very tasty. Service from the two waitresses was very good considering the bar was also busy and they were short staffed. Overall an excellent evening with great food and we’d all recommend it.

A very friendly “locals” high Street pub. 4 of us had dinner here with our 3 dogs. I’m not going to lie, my expectations weren’t particularly high however I was wrong to judge this pub before everyone had a chance to make us welcome. The food was good, some of it excellent (Gorgonzola chicken Treacle sponge) and all in all was a great experience.

Went here last night for my sons 18th Birthday. Staff are lovely and friendly, menu you isn’t extensive, but there was something for everyone. Every course was presented well, servings were generous, food was well cooked and tasted delicious. Thank you for making my boys birthday meal x

Mother in laws funeral, booked in as from the North Wales coast and really needed to know that we could relax. Arrived prior to opening but wasn't a problem, quick phone call and Nick arrived with the keys. The room was very compact but more than adequate, and the use of an old stable block for 3 rooms is really imaginative, a bonus to have a designated parking spot for the room. The wake was in another pub in the town but when we returned to the Horse and Groom in time to have another 3 or so, the atmosphere was lovely and very busy, when we retired I slept like a log in the comfortable, squishy bed. Morning brought a promise of breakfast that didn't disappoint, full English piping hot and beautifully cooked using quality ingredients, full for the rest of the day. Value for money, loved it, will be booking in over Easter hopefully. Thanks guys.
