The beer was also good. We couldn't find any faults and will definitely be returning. Just a note, the restaurant is not in Grantham but rather in the village of Skillington near Grantham.
On a sweltering hot day, we decided to opt for several appetizers instead of large main dishes for lunch at this restaurant. The dishes we had, such as smoked salmon, terrine, and whitebait, were all delicious. The service was also very good.
We visited this restaurant while staying in the area and were immediately impressed by the lovely atmosphere upon walking in. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We had made a reservation for six of us who were staying at a nearby hotel. The menu had a good selection and the prices were reasonable. I ordered the Skillet pie, which was delicious and came with proper chips - it was perfect! The meal was impeccable. Despite the restaurant being busy with two other large parties, the staff managed well and we never felt rushed or inconvenienced. We had a great time and would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.
Quaint village pub fantastic homemade food and exceptional welcome from the landlady Highly recommended
Tucked away in the small village of Skillington, the Cross Swords Inn greeted us with amazing food and service to boot! The portions are hearty and everything is homemade with love. For the price this was an absolute steal and I will certainly be re-visiting. I would highly recommend the pie!
