One of the best meals I have tried in a very long time, the chicken was so delicious, amazing flavour combination.

The home to amazing middle eastern cuisine with an amazing twist! Love the nice and modern decor inside and there is more seating areas outside as well.<br/ <br/ We took awhile to decide what to order as there was quite alot to choose from.We decided on the Mashi, Cheese cigars and the dips platter for the entree. The cheese cigars were a favourite and the cheese pull was definitely present in the dish. The dips platter was good as you get a good mix of three platters and it was served with warm toasted bread.<br/ <br/ For mains we had the Lamb Tagine and Chicken Shawarma Tagine is an amazing twist. 24hr marinated grilled chicken Shawarma, saffron rice and pita chips, this dish heats up well even on the next day. <br/ <br/ We had to try the kunafa dessert which is made up of layers of shredded angel hair pastry, mango cream topped with pistachio dust rose petals. It is served in a glass and the presentation is on point. This was definitely a highlight and you have to try it to believe it. The textures were amazing and the mango combines the dish very well. Loved how they asd in the rose petals as it gives it a different texture<br/ <br/ Overall we really enjoyed our meal at Dukkah. The staff was friendly and attentive and it makes it an enjoyable experience
I'm often surprised at the standard of restaurants and cafes in the suburbs, as it's easy to assume that the best dining experiences will be in the city. However, many of these suburban gems are family run, full of heart, and more than happy to provide fantastic hospitality to their guests. A recent night out at Dukkah restaurant in quiet South Kingsville was a real eye opener in terms of food, flavour and service. This Middle Eastern restaurant is modern but family focused, with a fabulous drinks selection, an epic Middle Eastern menu, and the loveliest staff that you will meet. <br/ <br/ We came in on a Wednesday night and found it to be a full house, as they had live music that night. A local duo sang pop and rock classics throughout our dinner, and they were very entertaining. It was an unexpected extra, and one that we enjoyed greatly. The restaurant itself is large, but cosy. The comfortable furniture encourages you to linger, whilst the neon sign adds a touch of fun to the atmosphere. There was a lovely air of fun in the air, as people around us enjoyed the food and entertainment, and of course the well stocked bar. In fact, Dukkah is the only restaurant in the area with beer on tap, making it quite a popular venue with the locals. <br/ <br/ After starting with some lovely wine, we were excited when our food arrived. With the menu designed around sharing plates, we were soon to find ourselves completely stuffed with gorgeous food. <br/ <br/ Cheese cigars were deliciously hot filo parcels filled with molten haloumi, feta and mozarella. Oozy goodness all around, especially with the sweet honey on top. Mashi are a Middle Eastern version of dolmades. Vine leaves enclose a spiced rice mix, and are served warm; proving to be a delightful alternative to the Mediterranean version. <br/ <br/ We also indulged in the trio of dips that came with a jenga stack of toasted bread for dipping. The lemon turmeric hummus was topped with Egyptian dukkah, and was incredibly moreish. Fel-fel is a charred capsicum and cream cheese dip with sweet paprika, walnuts and chives. This was sweet and delicious, with a hint of heat. The final dip was a vibrant beet labne topped with black sesame seeds; and it too was addictive and delicious. I could have easily stopped here, but we still had mains to come. <br/ <br/ Our main dishes were presented beautifully, and the aromas as they hit the table were mouth watering. Chicken Schwarma featured layers of grilled, marinated chicken, saffron rice, and pita chips all topped off with garlic aioli, almonds and pomegranate seeds. This was an outstanding dish, so full of flavour and texture; and very comforting. The lamb tagine featured slow cooked lamb with Advieh spices, a pea and apricot couscous and a side of freshly chopped salad. Another delightful dish, with the lamb so tender it melted in the mouth. The rich, spiced sauce was amazing; and the couscous was the perfect accompaniment to soak up all the flavours. <br/ <br/ Beyond full, but desperate to try dessert; we waited a while and enjoyed more drinks and music in the meantime. When our stomachs had recovered somewhat, we ordered the Kanafa as we were intrigued to try Dukkah's version of this classic dessert. Rather than using molten cheese, this dessert has been given a lighter touch; making it a fitting dessert after such a heavy dinner. The Kanafa is served in a glass, and consists of shredded angel hair pastry, fresh mango and whipped cream topped with pistachio dust and rose petals. What a heavenly delight this sweet ending was. The crispy pastry and mango worked perfectly together, and I savoured every mouthful. <br/ <br/ After several hours of lovely food, fantastic service and pleasant tunes; we left Dukkah more than happy, and have vowed to visit more of this type of establishment. You really can't beat a restaurant that is family run, as the love and passion is evident in everything from the decor to the food, and Dukkah is a shining example of this theory. It's quite clear that hospitality is in their blood, and their love for their culture and background is presented in everything that they do. Visitors to Dukkah will discover this for themselves; and soon too will become regulars, coming back for more of these delicious Middle Eastern flavours.
