This once vibrant pub was dead on a sunny Saturday afternoon. After going in and buying drinks I now know why. £18.50 for 2 pints and 2 halfs. It was £6.30 for a pint of San Miguel! We sat outside looking at the dead plants in the window boxes…it’s grotty. This is such a shame. We have visited many times over the last 20 years and it was always a good pint with a good atmosphere. Give this pub a miss. There’s cheaper and cleaner alternatives.
This pub has gone downhill, both inside and out. We only got food once during the entire week we were there, and the pub was frequently closed. It seemed like the owners preferred to spend their time drinking at other village pubs rather than running their own establishment. The woman spent more time playing with her dog than taking care of the pub. I would recommend avoiding this place altogether.
This was some of the worst food we have ever eaten (actually we didn 't eat it). We had the displeasure of waiting 2.5 hours for our food. Which, although this was 1.5 hours over the wait time we were advised, we have had food that can only be described as not fit for consumption (including my dog). I 'll attach pictures of a burger we had, in which the bacon hadn 't touched the pan and the burger resembled an rubber erasure from school. The gravy I had with my steak pie, could have been held over my head like a meringue mixture. On top of that, one of us got our meal 25 mins before the rest of us (5 ppl in total). We heard the chef in the toilet saying I can 't wait to finish, I can 't be bothered . Honestly,I don 't usually write reviews but this is one of the only reasons social media is beneficial, to advise others on what to expect. Not good at all, we advised staff and nothing was offered in way of apology. Poor at best.
We went to this restaurant for a drink and decided to look at the menu. The food looked just as good as it sounded. My wife ordered the gammon and I had the Cumberland sausage and mashed potatoes. We ended up trying each other's meals and both were excellent. The prices were reasonable too. We also visited some other pubs in the village, but ultimately decided to return to the King's Arms as it was our favorite.
