The fixed price light lunch was very nice, including a small bowl of hot soup, a generous round of freshly made sandwiches, a side salad, and a sweet dessert. On my visit, I had two triangles of peppermint slice as dessert, and I also ordered a coffee for an additional cost, bringing the total to around £16. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and I noticed that many "ladies who lunch" enjoy this venue for their afternoon teas with finger sandwiches. The décor is pleasant, and there is free WiFi available. My only observation is that the food took a bit longer to be served than I expected after placing my order, although the coffee was quick. If you are in a hurry, make sure to let the staff know in advance. Overall, I would happily return to this restaurant.
This restaurant has the worst service I have ever encountered! We ordered a cola, hot chocolate, soup, and egg mayo sandwich, which are very simple items and should have been quick and easy to make. We were the only customers there when we arrived, but we waited well over an hour for our food. The soup was lukewarm and there was no apology or explanation for the long wait. The service was terrible! As we waited, the restaurant started to get busier and some couples even left due to the long wait and unhelpful staff who couldn't provide information on allergen-friendly options for their baby. Eventually, we received our food, but we were the only ones in the restaurant who had been served after waiting over an hour. When we finished our meal and left, there was still no sign of anyone else's food being served. This was the worst service I've ever experienced, and I would not recommend this place. I suggest trying the cafe in the mill instead, which is excellent and I will definitely go back there in the future.
The restaurant received a visit from 35 members of our pensioners club on the 14th of November for an afternoon tea. From the moment we stepped into the foyer, we were treated like royalty. The food was outstanding and there was plenty of it. The service and staff were top-notch. We will definitely be returning for another outing. I have personally spent a weekend at the hotel and I highly recommend every aspect of it - from the comfort and hospitality to the food. It is everything you would expect from a classy hotel with historic and scenic surroundings.
Very poor service, very slow service Our afternoon Tea was planned well in advance, reservations for 12:30pm. Coffee, Tea and food arrived an hour later. There were also no napkins! The food however was very good.
Top place, friendly staff, no issues, will be going again soon, its just a nice relaxing place, waterfalls, heritage centre, walk the woods, breakfast in bed, free parking/wifi While here worth visiting wanlockhead 45 minutes drive
