Yummy flavors on South Portland’s famous Scratch Bakery bagels and breads. Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Not a lot of seating or parking so it can get a little crowded.

I recently received a product from Scratch Baking Company that I was not happy with, and to my surprise, they refunded my money to my credit card without me even having to ask. This experience has reinforced my confidence and admiration for Scratch. They truly are the best place in the greater Portland area for baked goods, sweets, breads, and more. I wholeheartedly recommend Scratch Baking Company, not just for the outstanding quality of their products, but also for their commendable business practices. It's refreshing to see a company that upholds 'old-fashioned ethics'!

This place might just have the best bagels in the world. They're definitely my favorite. My only complaint is that they sell out so quickly.

I’m thrilled that the toast bar has finally opened! They have an incredible menu, and the staff is really friendly and eager to assist you. The restaurant has a few tables indoors and some picnic tables outside, which is great if you want to bring your dog along. When I spoke with the woman at the register, she quickly offered help and enthusiastically shared some recommendations. Current favorites include the chicken liver and smoked beef, but I was pleasantly surprised by the mushrooms as well! The chicken liver is incredibly smooth and creamy, served on hearty bread and garnished with rock salt and herbs. However, the smoked beef definitely stood out as the favorite of the two! I can't wait to return and try everything on the menu. Additionally, if you're looking to grab bagels from Scratch (which I do every time I visit SoPo), you can get bread and bagels here since the bread kitchen is right next door! Just keep in mind that it's not open to customers—just for employees. Parking can be a bit challenging due to limited space, so it’s best to carpool if you can.

What a wonderful place! The food is incredibly tasty, with an impressive variety of creative dishes served on different types of delicious bread. The atmosphere is fun, and the coffee is great too. I live just around the corner and love bringing my friends here when they come to visit.
