My husband made the booking over the phone and immediately commented on how friendly and helpful the lady was who helped with our booking. We turned up on a very frosty morning and stood viewing the ice on the water! We were boarded at 11.45 and shown to our allocated table. The boat was duly decked out with Christmas decorations and for the whole cruise we were regaled with Christmas songs. The food (which we had ordered from the menu prior to the cruise) was really delicious and we considered ours to be ample portions. Above all, the service was amazing and the staff worked tirelessly. It appeared that everything ran like clockwork and at the end of the cruise we considered it a lovely way to spend about 3 hours. The price paid was really good value for money and this canal cruise is now firmly on our 'To Do ' list for 2020.
We didn't know what to expect, but we had a fantastic afternoon on board while enjoying a delicious three course Sunday dinner. The boat was very stable, as the canal was calm. The service staff were well-dressed and polite. We were glad we dressed up to match the elegant surroundings. Despite expecting to be cold, it was actually quite warm once we left the dock. The temperature was a comfortable 80°F, so there was no need to wear too many layers. The service was designed to make the dining experience last throughout the 3-hour cruise, allowing us to unwind and relax. For starters, we had soup and pate, followed by chicken and roast beef with vegetables. We finished off with apple pie, which was delicious. A bottle of house red wine cost about £17. I would recommend this experience to anyone who enjoys good food in a unique setting and has three hours to spare.
I treated my in-laws to a special anniversary meal at this restaurant and it was a truly memorable experience. The setting was beautiful and the food was delicious. The prawn cocktail salad was lovely, the beef was tender, and the vegetables and roast potatoes were superb. The apple pie was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of tartness and not too mushy, and it was served with plenty of custard. The bar was well-stocked and we enjoyed a delicious Malbec at a very reasonable price. The liqueur coffee was topped with proper cream, not the cheap stuff. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient, the views were scenic, and the time flew by. I highly recommend this experience. Thank you!
Went here for a birthday treat. Very clean boat and a pleasant section of the Leeds Liverpool canal. Had the added bonus of a kingfisher following us along the canal on the return journey. Pleasant meal served by nice people.
We had a fantastic time on the Romance during a 3-hour lunch cruise. The food and staff were both outstanding, the seating was comfortable, and the overall experience was incredibly relaxing.
