We had a group of 10 and did a pre-order, the food was served hot and tasted amazing. The staff were very accommodating and even gave us extra roast potatoes. The desserts were also delicious. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and set-up. Thank you for a great experience!
This is the best pub food I've had in years. It's clearly homemade and delicious. The service is incredibly friendly and it's worth making the drive from Bristol for.
We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance while passing through on a Saturday afternoon, and we're so glad we did. The bartender/owner appeared to be running the show with the kitchen staff behind the scenes. He was incredibly helpful and accommodating, seating my wife, our three young children, and our dog in the bar area near the cozy open fire. The food was amazing - we tried a variety of dishes and everything was fantastic, especially the chips. Even our youngest, who is still on bottles, was included in the meal. Our bill for four meals, drinks, and a 15% tip came to £50, which we found to be great value. The atmosphere in the pub was lovely, the food was excellent, and the service was impeccable. We will definitely be coming back in the future.
We have eaten here on a few occasions recently and found the food to be good. We came for Sunday lunch today and were very disappointed with the general experience. We sat down at 1.30 to be told there was no roast beef (surely you would hold some back for your bookings? . We ordered a pork and a chicken. We had starters first which were ok, the garlic mushrooms were lukewarm. The mains turned up with very very small portions of meat and 3 dried up roast potatoes each that had been hanging around for a while, the vegetables were also lukewarm. I asked the waitress for some more pork only to be told they had run out (one of my slices of pork had even been cut in half was this so that some other poor diner could have his portion? . So I spoke to the landlord Jerry, who found some more pork (where had it been hiding! . To be honest we got the impression that they had run out of food and our meals were cobbled together with the last scraps. The whole experience was a let down; when I paid the bill and voiced my concerns to the barman he was not the slightest bit interested. What a shame; we are locals and eat out often. We won't be back.
We tried to visit this pub on a Monday night in November but it was closed, the website needs updating. We tried again on a Thursday evening and got in. All the crew are friendly and helpful. The inside looks recently decorated and is smart and functional. The menu is not large but has enough choice. I went for cod n chips. Service was a bit slow but our meals arrived pipping hot and comprised a plate full of food. The fish was uninspiring but the chips and peas were super. A nice pub serving reasonably priced food with friendly service. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.
