Monks Yard - South Somerset

I treated my mom to afternoon tea as a Christmas present. It was incredible value, with top-notch ingredients and outstanding service – even though they were quite busy. The atmosphere is lovely and it's a great spot to spend an afternoon. We also checked out the charming gift shop where we met a wonderful lady. Definitely recommend checking it out for the wide variety of food choices available. You won't be disappointed!

We live nearby and saw good reviews online, so we decided to try this restaurant on a Thursday. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The staff seemed clueless when we asked about specials, and the server was a bit grumpy. We ordered BBQ chicken burgers, which were served on wooden chopping boards. I found this unhygienic and impractical, as the food spilled over the edges. My partner's burger dripped fatty juice onto his lap. My chicken burger unexpectedly came with shredded pork, which was cold and unpleasant. The fries were rock hard and cold, likely left sitting for too long. The onion rings were overcooked, and the coleslaw tasted like it was store-bought. The bun became soggy from the toppings, making it messy to eat. Overall, the food tasted off and the experience was disorganized and noisy. We won't be returning.

We had an excellent breakfast in a charming setting. We decided to visit this restaurant after hearing many positive reviews and because we were staying in the area. I ordered a delicious full English breakfast made with high-quality ingredients and cooked perfectly. My wife had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, also made with good quality ingredients and prepared exactly to her liking. The coffee was excellent and we were provided with a large pot of tea for my wife. The service was good, the restaurant was clean, including the bathrooms, and the staff were friendly. There was plenty of seating available and a wide selection of food to choose from.

We enjoyed a beautifully presented Afternoon Tea at Monks Yard with both our sets of elderly parents. The scones were so light and the cakes and sandwiches were delicious. The waiting team were kind and helpful. Thank you for a lovely time.

I popped in for breakfast this morning and sampled your delicious musli! It was absolutely divine, super creamy and satisfying with tasty strawberry’s and honey on top. A very generous portion. I’ve also sampled lots of other yummy goodies recently including your fry up and breakfast bap! All super tasty! Cafe is spotless and clean! Staff are always so welcoming and happy especially Jen and Jackie! They always make the experience more enjoyable. stars to monks yard! I will be back soon, especially for one of your yummy coffees!!
