Fish Chips G.s H.s Gill

Ordered 2 meals between 3 of us as the portion sizes are so good. Website said 70 mins, arrived in 30. I almost sent the lovely delivery guy packing as I thought he had the wrong order but he explained the fish was so big it was in a pizza box. Beautiful tasty white fish, batter was crispy and not greasy at all. We often order pizza from here as it's really good too. Unusual for a chippy to do good pizzas.

I have no complaints about the staff at this restaurant; they are always friendly and polite. I understand the challenges that COVID-19 has brought, but on June 25, 2020, I noticed that not only have the prices increased (in some cases) by 10%, but the portion sizes have decreased by much more than 10%. I suspect this may become a common trend everywhere.

It has been a few months since our last takeout from this restaurant. Our younger kids love their pizza and kebab specials! We have been trying out other delivery options from pubs and restaurants since the lockdown began. We were excited to order our usual half hot shot, half pepperoni with garlic sauce and chips. The employee already knew my "usual" when I gave my address, which was both sad and comforting at the same time. There have been times in the past where we had to wait a long time for our order, but not tonight. Our food was ready quickly and we were happy to be back. It was a lovely experience.

This fish and chips serves decent-sized fish, accompanied by huge rations of fries (2 can share fries). The fish is cooked, so be sure to tell the staff as soon as you go in otherwise you will be waiting around unnecessarily, especially if I have waited to be served before ordering your fish.The staff is friendly and they love to chat with customers, especially if it involves a bit of scandal!They also serve pizzas, burgers and kebab döner but I have never tried, however, not popular with their regular customers. A word of warning, if you don't like a lot of salt and vinegar in your fish and fries ask for season yourself!In general this fish and chips away at Stanhope Road in South Shields deserves a visit, but remember that only your meal to take.

The title of this critique is the only reason why wearing only receives 3 out of 5. We have been a customer delivery order for years of pizzas and chips. Pizzas and chips are great, making medium and medium pizzas is not a problem for them, but we believe that sometimes we have to repeat the order and sometimes and then wait for the best that they deliver as ordered. The last experience we had summed up the main problem with this to take delivery time promises. Many times we have had to look for the orders to appear miraculously a few minutes later we call this last order when the order had fallen outside the 'counter' then we would have waited an hour and a half before locating the delivery. To be fair they apologized and compensated this mistake, but it's just our loyalty to the taste that ring back for more. Busy decorating tonight took us late and my partner said he only asked for a pizza, but not just for the possible delays and then he wouldn't be hungry again. What a shame, if they could fix the delivery part, the store is always full, then I'm sure it would return top tpratings.
