The Talisman Pub Park Gate, Southampton

We ended up here at the recommendation of another pub who didn’t serve dinner past 8pm. What a lovely place and service was great as well. You have different rooms with different atmosphere which was really nice. Tye fish and chips was the best we ate in UK and my wife took the vegetarian tagine which was excellent as well. Highly recommend the food there

Went with my friend today. Wasn't keen on the brunch so we waited for lunch so we could order something else. I had a fishfinger sandwich which was great. The service and staff was great as well. The only reason for the low rating was because they don't accept cash, which I think is totally wrong. Although everything else was good, I am afraid I will not be going back because I want to pay in cash.

The Talismans food quality has always been up and down as with the service and atmosphere. Not sure if they have had a more recent change but everything seems to be on the better side of things now. Great outside seating area with lots of cover and always very busy with good atmosphere. The small conservatory area is great for a private small function too, recently visited for a birthday and is a good spot for this. Ate here too ordered an array of starters and picky bits, everything was cooked well, tasted great and was presented well. The service was quick and attentive too. Have a lot more events on now too which is good for the area, visited on a Ibiza chilled day was extremely busy but they had more than enough staff so waiting times to get to bar was extremely quick also. Only downside is the cleanliness of the men’s toilets needs more regular cleaning and no downstairs toilet? Visited with my disabled brother and when I asked at the bar if there was a downstairs toilet they said no? Not sure if this was the case or they did not believe I needed to use that. Maybe a miscommunication.

Beautiful food, we have visited several times now and always been impressed with the service, food and atmosphere. The slow cooked pork belly was absolutely delicious! Plenty of parking and outdoor space to sit. Relaxed environment and an enjoyable experience.

Many years ago I was a regular here as I lived in the area. I was delighted to return recently and see it is still as welcoming now as it was 15yrs ago! I’ve been here in recent weeks for just a coffee, the odd evening drink, and this week for lunch (twice). The choice of drinks is vast, and the menu is really open to all diets and really novel with how they create their dishes. I had the Nduja Chicken Supreme which was amazing, and it’s definitely worth pointing out that I recommend the garlic potatoes. I see other reviews here that mention service issues yeah ok I get it as it has been an issue when I’ve visited. Ordered at midday for lunch and was first up apparently, yet still took 40mins. Doesn’t mean it’s not worthy of the 5star review though. The team and their friendliness far outweigh any negatives on service. Well done everyone and see you soon!
