Delicious feeding ground in the centre of Southbank!<br/ <br/ Located directly across from Flinders Street Station on Southbank, Pure South Dining offers a dining experience of pure quality. <br/ <br/ Whilst the prices are higher than other lunch locations in the area, it also provides a higher standard. <br/ <br/ Pictured are the Hotcakes from the breakfast menu. Paired it with some morning Mimosas perfect! <br/ <br/ Fantastic for lunch meetings<br/ Great spot to meet friends<br/ Location<br/ Food quality
The renovated Pure South Dining has a big presence on Southgate, being located at a major intersection along the Yarra. We had dinner here and the dishes were generally good. The service was also professional and friendly. The views are definitely a plus for the location.<br/ <br/ We shared the scallops, octopus and kingfish entrees, and had the beef cheek, blue cod, eye fillet and pork for mains. We also had the broccolini and chips as sides. I enjoyed the scallop entree the most it came with a bisque that was decadent and tasty. The octopus and kingfish were also quite good though.<br/ <br/ For the mains, I was quite disappointed with my pork. It was supposed to be a mix of pork loin and pork belly, but the dish came with 2 larger pieces of loin, and only one small piece of belly (I was expecting at least a 50/50 of belly). But the main issue I have with it is there was a lot of fat on all the pork. Even the strip of pork that came with the scallop entree was almost entirely fat. The same went for my pork main. The fat is important in giving it a moist consistency, and I could tell all the dishes were well treated, but I really wasn't interested in eating mostly fat. The other mains were decent, though admittedly not exceptional. The eye fillet I thought could have been a little warmer but was otherwise good. The chips were not as crispy as I thought they would be, but the seasoning was quite tasty and I ate more than I thought I would. The inside of the chips were quite soft and there were some crunchy outside bits, so it was quite nice. The broccolini was also nicely done.<br/ <br/ Overall, I can't say that I was very impressed with the food given the prices, but aside from the pork, that may have just been my particular taste. Nevertheless, the food was all well prepared and if the menu attracts you I think it is worth a try.
Beautiful breakfast menu with lots on offer hot cakes were certainly something different but tasted wonderful. Service was prompt and staff friendly
Good food with the Tasmanian focus being the highlight. Portion size could be a little more generous but still not bad. Nice wine list with some value options to be had. Service was solid despite a busy night.
