Fishbone's West - Southfield

Desmond offers excellent service, and the chocolate cake is truly exceptional.

I had a wonderful experience at Fishbones in Southfield, Michigan, located off Northwestern Highway! I tried their peach tea Margarita, which was a refreshing choice for me. The margarita had a stronger lime flavor, but I absolutely loved the Catfish Beignets as my appetizer. For my main course, I had a seafood salad and finished off with Key Lime Pie for dessert. Make sure to stay refreshed with their lemon and lime-infused water. The only downside was the automatic 18% gratuity, but on the bright side, I was able to take home a Caesar salad for dinner on Saturday. Overall, great food and excellent company with my GodSis!

We started with appetizers and ordered French fries for the girls, then placed our dinner orders. After finishing the appetizers and waiting for our main courses, our server informed my daughter that they had run out of lobster tails, forcing her to choose a different dish. We had ordered over 30 minutes earlier, so this was quite frustrating. She decided on crab legs instead, and we waited at least another 30 minutes for our food to arrive. When it finally came, the food was just okay. Given our total bill of $450, I expected much better service. After more than two hours, we received the bill, which I paid promptly as the children were becoming restless. On my way out, I asked to speak with the manager to discuss our disappointing dining experience. Unfortunately, he could only offer a $25 gift certificate, which was hardly sufficient since it barely covered the cost of one appetizer. We definitely deserved better than this.

It was just odd. There were 4 tables still left at closing time and we were the only ones being rushed out.

I recently dined at Fishbone’s with my family (a party of 5) and noticed upon seating that an 18% gratuity is automatically added. While we decided to stay, the automatic tip policy seems to discourage excellent service. Our server, though polite, was slow and inattentive, only offering refills when we asked for the check and failing to clear appetizer plates before the main course leaving little room at our table. Additionally, the food was subpar. Due to the automatic gratuity, mediocre food, and slow service, we won't be returning to Fishbone’s.
