Despite being assured that they could accommodate my gluten allergy, I got sick after my first meal. The reception desk was unhelpful, but the manager was apologetic and comped our meal. However, the staff seemed resentful after a training session. There were multiple issues with cross-contamination and miscommunication, leading to more instances of getting sick. I had to constantly check with kitchen runners to ensure my food was safe to eat. The portion sizes were large and I felt wasteful, but I believe the kitchen can handle gluten-free meals if properly informed. Overall, the experience was stressful and I had to constantly advocate for myself. If you plan to eat here and have dietary restrictions, be prepared to speak directly to the kitchen manager or chef and potentially upset the servers who may not understand the severity of your allergy.
We requested a gluten-free menu at this restaurant and found the staff to be knowledgeable and willing to check with the kitchen about gluten-free options. They offer gluten-free pasta upon request and can provide gluten-free bread or buns with advance notice. The sandwiches are tasty even without the bun. There are many gluten-free options available, and my wife, who has celiac disease, did not experience any illness during our week-long stay at the resort.
