Love this place. Was disappointed because of lunch scheduling. I went to order a sandwich for my husband, who was coming later. I waited till it was almost 2:00pm (1:57pm) to order so it would be fresh. It says online lunch ends at 2:00pm. When I went to order, they said the kitchen closed at 1:55pm and wouldn’t allow me to order anything. I did not see a 1:55pm lunch end time posted anywhere. I couldn’t believe they wouldn’t allow me to order food when I ordered before the end time listed on their website. It seemed very petty. Maybe more consistency?Edit: sent an email and have not heard back.
A great place to get your loose coffee (whole bean or ground to your preferences) AND a great selection of sandwiches and other beverages.Right off the Spartanburg Rail Trail it's a great place e for a snack. Also here is a small respite with a food trailer and entertainment area.A lovely place to eat outdoors and/or a place to allow the young ones to burn off excess energy.A great addition to Spartanburg and the rail trail.
The Little River Roasting site does not state that the kitchen closes at 2:00 (found out later that the Fretwell site does note this. Had checked the menu online before going so walked right up to the counter to order sweet potato taco and was informed that they stopped serving lunch at 2:00. WHAT!?!?!. Pulled out my phone; it was 2:02.Fine, they serve breakfast all day. So I ordered a vegetarian burrito and a Peruvian cold brew. The guy said he did not what kind of cold brew they had so he got another employee to assist. The website specifically stated that the cold brew was Peruvian. Even the next employee had no idea what kind of coffee was used for cold brew. Again, not a problem, I’ll just have whatever cold brew you have available. My wife ordered a bacon burrito and we sat down. When the beeper went off, I went to the counter and was informed they did not have any bacon burritos left. Again, fine, she’ll just go with the sausage. Got our burritos and we were deep in conversation while we ate.Halfway through my burrito, I tasted a slimy blob of bacon grease. Sure enough, I had a bacon burrito. Bacon causes me extreme GI upset. I immediately went back to the counter and told them what had happened. The response was, “They’re supposed to label the burritos but they didn’t do it. We had to try to figure it out.” I was offered to recompense but I told the young lady to just give me a scone instead, which she did.6 hours later, I am still so sick I can’t eat dinner and have upchucked most of my lunch. The staff definitely needs better training. The error with the burrito has left me terribly ill, but what if had been a religious or ethical decision to not eat bacon? And a barista who does not know what coffee they are serving? And no offer of substitution after making such a grave error. And a website that does not list lunch hours? All around, a horrible experience.Dietary restrictions: Staff needs to be aware that what people order may be due to dietary restrictions and mistakes may have grave consequences!
I walk the Pine Street Trail all the time and pass Fretwell since it's on the path. I've been there before but it was a brief visit and I only ordered drinks from the mobile bus outside. Recently I've been inside Little River Roasting and it's a pleasant atmosphere. Staff can be a little more friendly but otherwise its ok. I ordered a caramel latte which was too, just ok. Halfway through the ice melted and it started to taste watery. I work remotely so when I finish my walk I usually work here for a couple of hours. It's been twice thus far, and I think it's a good location to work while taking in some nature.
